Five Lessons I Learned being a Media Student

By Stephen Loh
People always ask sildenafil citrate 100mg me what I’ve learned being a media communications student. To be honest there is a whole long list but I shall just share a few important ones. If you are planning to take a communications course or currently taking one this article might relate to you. Here are five lessons I learned and am still learning as a media student.
1. Don’t trust everything on the Media
News gets shared so easily nowadays with a click of a button, that
article on Facebook about ISIS in Malaysia might be fake and yes such stories get shared around. As a media student we learn how news is made, the agenda setting behind the news production and factors that makes it news. Learning how the media works and its process has made me more sceptical of everything I see and read from the media. I check the source before sharing anything on social media http://canadapharmacy-onlinerx.com/ now.
2. Communication is the Key to Success
You can’t be a communication student if you’re not an extrovert. That’s not entirely true as I learned most of my communication skills in college. Presentations, reports and video production are part and parcel of a being a media tadalafil student. All these
forms of communication skills are soft skills which will give you an upper hand in the workforce. Having good communications skills written and spoken is a stepping stone to success and what better way to learn than practical assignments in media school.
3. Handling Stress and Deadlines
We all can agree that stress in high school is nothing compared to university and work. The media industry is a fast paced world where the pressure is not for everyone and as media students we are trained for it. I have learned to handle the stress of assignments, dealing with fussy clients and strict deadlines. This mentally prepares me for the sleepless nights working in a news firm or advertising agency in the future.
4. People Management Skills
“I work well with others” and “I am a team player” are phrases commonly seen in a resume. People management skills are important and being a good people person is an advantage. As media students group projects are common and
we have work with people with different personalities. It can be challenging at times and I learned it the hard viagra way but I definitely look forward to working with others now.
5. Ignorance is not Cool
Rock band Paramore sings “Ignorance is your new best friend”, this however is the opposite for media students. Being aware and updated of current affairs is important as such news impacts society and tadalafil generic the world we live in. As a media student I am forced to read up on current affairs as it is widely discussed in my lectures. Reading news from around world has exposed sildenafil e tadalafil me to politics, religion and culture, all these important elements of society. Personally being aware is a good habit I picked up as a student and we are never too old when it comes to knowledge.
